Benedict Cumberbatch will play Doctor Strange when the film hits theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said producer Kevin Feige. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”
The film will follow Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a devastating car accident, “discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions,” Marvel explained. When Doctor Strange hit theaters, it’ll be part of the acclaimed Phase 3 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Other movies in Phase 3 include Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Inhumans and Avengers: Infinity War.
Cumberbatch can be seen in The Imitation Game, with previous appearances in 12 Years a Slave and Star Trek Into Darkness, among other films.
