Disney cuts ties with Netflix—Here’s why

Disney is ending its exclusive deal with Netflix in favor of launching its own streaming service.

Nearly ever content provider is thinking about starting its own streaming service, so Disney’s decision doesn’t come as a surprise. Its deal with Netflix runs through 2019, which is also the year it’ll launch its own streaming service where Disney movies and content from its entities like Disney Channel will be available. Upon the launch of the Disney streaming service, the main titles that will be available will be Toy Story 4 and the sequel to Frozen.

AT&T sweetens Unlimited Choice data plan with DirectTV Now add-on

AT&T announced its Unlimited Choice data plan can now be coupled with DirecTV Now for only $70.

Unlimited Choice is AT&T’s low-tier unlimited data that costs $60 per month. The plan is a cheap unlimited data plan but has the catch-22 detail of capping out data speeds at 3mpbs. DirectTV Now’s “Live a Little” package retails for $35, but customers who couple the Unlimited Choice and DirecTV Now subscription will receive a $25 credit bringing down the total price to $70. That’s a pretty sweet deal in case you’ve been looking to cut the cord.

AT&T’s Unlimited Plus wireless plan will now include free HBO

Starting Wednesday, AT&T will be including a free subscription to HBO to any customer with its Unlimited Plus wireless plan.

This is the latest move on AT&T’s part to lure in customers as the carrier wars have been heating up. Nearly every other carrier offers a comparable unlimited plan. Now it’s about throwing in more incentives beyond unlimited data, and a free subscription to HBO, which alone runs $15, is a pretty sweet perk.

Fate of the Furious Super Bowl spot sparks a new rivalry

It’s no longer about family for Dom Toretto. In the latest teaser for Fate of the Furious, the longtime Fast & Furious stalwart has seemingly turned his back on his family, instead opting for a life of crime with newcomer Cipher, who is being played by Charlize Theron.

I could be wrong, but it could be Cipher’s dreadlocks that have hypnotized Dom. He seems oddly robotic; even more so than usual. It’s unclear why he’s suddenly betraying his family but I’m sure it’ll include some crazy twist.

Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:

With Dom and Letty on their honeymoon, Brian and Mia having retired from the game, and the rest of the crew exonerated, the team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman seduces Dom into a world of crime he cannot seem to escape, causing him to betray those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

The usual suspects are back, including Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, who was the big baddie of the most recent Fast & Furious film.

The Fate of the Furious is revving to go on April 14, 2017.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer 3—Everything you need to know

Cloaked figure, Rey (Daisy Ridley) in a broken ship, scavenging for parts.

“Who are you?” a voice asks. It’s a voice we haven’t heard before, and I’m thinking there’s a good choice this is the voice of Maz Kanata (Lupita N’yongo). She sounds friendly, welcoming, but since we know absolutely nothing about her, it’s hard to say if she’ll be a good character or not. Chances are her intentions will be ambiguous from the start, but I’m guessing she’ll wind up being someone we love.

Netflix: Here are the movies and TV shows being added (and taken down) in September

It’s going to be a rough September for Netflix. Luckily, the popular streaming service has some solid original content to fall back on.
In addition to the recent Epix announcement, the list of movies being added and taken down from the service has hit, and it’s not for the feint of heart. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London will no longer be available for streaming.

HBO’s standalone service is coming to the Apple TV next month. Like the rumors said, HBOW Now is a little more expensive than your usual streaming service, though HBO isn’t your typical premium cable channel. When the service goes live, it’ll be $14.99 per month, and be available on all Apple devices, including iPhones and iPads; it’s unclear if the service will be available through the Web.

‘Pee-wee’s Big Holiday’ will be exclusive to Netflix

There’s going to be a new Pee-wee Herman movie, and it’s exclusively coming to Netflix (presumably this year). The streaming service on Tuesday said production will begin next month, kicking off an all new adventure for one of Hollywood’s most iconic characters. Even if you haven’t seen his TV show or movies, you know Pee-wee; you recognize the voice and trademark suit and bowtie.
