OnePlus Will Be First To Offer Device With New Snapdragon 855 Chip

OnePlus just scored a huge win. Its next smartphone flagship, which is expected to be called OnePlus 7, will be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 855 processor in 2019. The news was revealed at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii where it is unveiling its next-gen technology for 2019.

In the past, OnePlus has always made it a point to keep its devices on the cutting edge. The OnePlus 5 was one of the first smartphones to come with 8GB of RAM in 2017. Not that the phone could really take advantage of the extra memory at the time, but it did ensure the phone was future-proof.

OnePlus is taking a similar approach with the OnePlus 7 by including the Snapdragon 855 processor. The new processor from Qualcomm will feature new 7nm architecture and performance that will rival Apple’s A12 Bionic and Huawei’s Kirin 980 processors.

On top of improved performance, the 855 chip will also include support for multi-gigabit data speeds and work nicely with Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Sensor fingerprint scanner.

OnePlus usually releases its first flagship device around May. That seems like an awful long time to wait for the first device to feature the Snapdragon 855 processor, especially with devices like the Galaxy S10 on deck to be released early next year.

Unfortunately, we did not get any details about the OnePlus device, but judging from early reports, we can already expect the device to be as powerful as any other device on the market.

Samsung Continues to Roast Apple in Latest Ingenius Ads

Samsung has returned to its tried and true formula of pointing out all of Apple’s flaws that helped it first establish itself as a smartphone powerhouse. It started with “The Next Big Thing” campaign and it’s continuing with its new “Ingenius” ads that poke fun at Apple for its perceived shortcomings.

It just released three new ads focusing on the dongle, fast charger, and camera. The ads satirically use an Apple Genius that is explaining to customers the limitations of the iPhone.

The first ad highlights the need for a dongle if iPhone customers still want to continue using headphones with the 3.5mm jack. The second ad sees a customer question the Apple Genius why Apple doesn’t include the fast charger when Samsung does with the new Galaxy S9. And the last ad goes for the iPhone X camera using DxOMark’s ratings of cameras as the Galaxy S9 Plus earned a high rating (99) than the iPhone X (97).

Fixing your Samsung Galaxy phone just got a lot easier

Samsung on Wednesday announced an important partnership with uBreakiFix in an effort to provide same-day repair services for Galaxy owners. The program is expected to offer over 300 Samsung Care authorized locations, with more locations to come by the end of 2018. The partnership will expand by a further 200 locations in 2019.

The program will allow customers to schedule an appointment online or walk in and drop their phone off. Samsung said some repairs can be performed within two hours or less, though there are caveats to that claim, like if your device has been damaged by liquid.
