The $323 bags include some incredible surprises, including the latest iPod touch, iPads, and even MacBook Airs.

If you’re an Apple fan living in Japan, a Lucky Bag is a great way to get your hands on some heavily-discounted Apple gear. For just 38,000 yen (approx. $323), you get a selection of products you’ll find on sale inside an Apple retail store — the only downside is, you cannot choose what you get.

According to 9to5Mac, the most common Lucky Bag this year includes a 16GB fifth-generation iPod touch, an iTunes gift card, an Apple TV, an Incase backpack, a Mophie Powerstation, and Powerbeats2 by Beats wireless in-ear headphones — saving customers at least a couple of hundred dollars.

But the savings can get even better than that. A second Lucky Bag combination is said to include everything you get in the bag above, except the iPod touch is swapped for either a 16GB iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3, and an Ultimate Ears Boom Bluetooth speaker is added.

The best, and also the rarest Lucky Bag combo is the one that includes a 128GB MacBook Air, a compatible Air Jacket case, an Apple TV, the same Incase Icon Slim backpack included in the bags above, the same Powerbeats 2 headphones, a Mophie Powerstation, and a PlugBug from Twelve South.

All that for $323? Pretty amazing, right? No wonder so many of Apple’s international customers would love to see Lucky Bags sold elsewhere, but unfortunately, this is just a Japanese tradition. However, these Lucky Bags are already popping up on eBay, and although you’re unlikely to find some of the rarer ones, there may still be some decent savings to be had.

VIA 9TO5MAC

Apple kicked off its Lucky Bag promotion in Japan at 8 a.m. local time this morning, and as expected, it has been a big success — not only for Apple, but also those buying one.
