We\u2019ve found that the best way to make navigating and tweeting easier is to learn a few keyboard shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Twitter has changed which keystrokes do what, as well as quietly added new ones. The latest list of keyboard shortcuts below (we\u2019ll make a point to keep them updated) should work in all major browsers.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Actions<\/h2>\n<p>The following keyboard shortcuts are useful for actually using Twitter\u2019s various functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>N to compose a new tweet<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl + Enter to send a tweet<\/li>\n<li>Escape to exit the compose window, or any other popup (not specific to Twitter, but very handy)<\/li>\n<li>F to favorite a tweet<\/li>\n<li>R to reply to a tweet<\/li>\n<li>T to retweet a tweet<\/li>\n<li>M to send a direct message<\/li>\n<li>U to mute a user<\/li>\n<li>B to block a user<\/li>\n<li>Enter to open tweet details<\/li>\n<li>L to close all open tweets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Navigation<\/h2>\n<p>The following keyboard shortcuts will help you move around Twitter:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>J to move to the next tweet<\/li>\n<li>K to move to the previous tweet<\/li>\n<li>Space to move down a page<\/li>\n<li>Shift+space to move up a page<\/li>\n<li>. bring up the next set of tweets and take you to the top of the page<\/li>\n<li>\/ to go to the Search box<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These keyboard are more specific and require hitting two buttons in succession<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>G then H for Home<\/li>\n<li>G then N for Notifications<\/li>\n<li>G then A for Activity<\/li>\n<li>G then R for Mentions<\/li>\n<li>G then D for Discover<\/li>\n<li>G then P for Profile<\/li>\n<li>G then F for Favorites<\/li>\n<li>G then L for Lists<\/li>\n<li>G then M for Messages<\/li>\n<li>G then S for Settings<\/li>\n<li>G then U for any user\u2019s timeline (pictured above, brings up the \u201cGo to a person\u2019s profile\u201d box where you can type in a person\u2019s name or Twitter handle and hit enter)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last group of keyboard shortcuts are easy to remember if you think of them as g for go and the next letter for wherever you want to navigate to (the first one is <strong>g<\/strong>o <strong>h<\/strong>ome).<\/p>\n<p>At any point, if you want to reference the keyboard shortcuts on Twitter, hit Shift + ? to bring up this<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many Twitter users access the service on their mobile devices and frankly don\u2019t like the Twitter website, but sometimes it\u2019s all you\u2019ve got.
