Speaking to\u00a0<em>Re\/code<\/em>,\u00a0Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges said he\u2019s still interested in selling off the UnCarrier in an effort to create a new powerhouse that could take on Verizon and AT&amp;T.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was intrigued by the idea of having a combination with Sprint and being the \u2018super-maverick\u2019 in the market,\u201d he said, adding that it also makes financial sense to sell off the U.S. carrier. T-Mobile reportedly requires $4 billion to $5 billion in yearly investments to keep up with the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Hoettges also took the opportunity to talk about John Legere, T-Mobile\u2019s outspoken CEO.\u00a0\u201cI like people being disruptive,\u201d he said. \u201cI like people who are brave. He is very much fitting to our DNA, how we want to be, even if he is very American in his approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For now, Legere\u2019s strategy seems to be working. T-Mobile is growing thanks to a series of bold UnCarrier moves, but it may not be enough to compete with AT&amp;T and Verizon in the long run.
