The Taiwanese company says that the software will be made available to consumers the same day Google approves it.

Mo Versi, Vice President of Product Management at HTC, first confirmed the update on November 14 when he told a user on Twitter that it would be available early during the week beginning November 17. He then tweeted again on November 18 to say that the software was delayed and would be available on Friday, November 21 instead.

November 21 came and went with no sign of the update, and Versi delivered the news that it was still awaiting Google’s approval, and therefore could not be made available to users at that time. He did confirm, however, that both the One M7 and One M8 releases were both with Google for testing.

Versi has taken to Twitter again this weekend to say, “the SW for M7 & M8 with the fixes are in Google’s QA [Quality Assurance] lab. Their target is to provide TA by end of day Monday.”

As soon as HTC has Google’s approval, the updates will be made available to its users within a few hours, Versi says. While many will be frustrated by the delays, then, Lollipop will still be gracing their handsets months before the vast majority even get a taste of it.

Bear in mind, however, that these updates are for the Google Play Edition devices running stock Android only, so if you got yours from a carrier and it’s running HTC’s own Sense 6 software, you’ll need to wait a little while longer.

SOURCE MO VERSI

Following a series of delays, HTC’s Google Play Edition One M7 and One M8 could finally get their Android 5.0 Lollipop updates on Monday.
