It lasted about a month before Twitter reverted the policy back to only allowing users who follow one another to DM. Now, in an effort to take on other popular chat apps, the feature is back.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to invest in our private channel to lay the foundation for a powerful and engaging messaging experience,\u201d Twitter said, according to\u00a0<em>CNET<\/em>. It\u2019s the second major change to the company\u2019s DM feature, which recently gained support for group messaging, too.
