The firm noted $1.85 earnings per share (EPS) on revenue of $49.6 billion. Wall Street analysts\u00a0were expecting earnings of $1.81 per share and $49.43 billion in revenue.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Wall Street was also looking for 48.8 million iPhones sold, 4.9 million Macs sold, according to <em>Business Insider;<\/em>\u00a0<em>CNBC<\/em> said analysts were also hoping for 11.1 million iPads sold during the quarter.\u00a0During the third quarter, Apple sold 47.5 million iPhones, 4.8 million Macs, and 10.9 million iPads. That\u2019s a big iPhone sales miss against expectations, which likely put a lot of emphasis on expansion in China, but it still marks record third quarter sales of the iPhone and Mac.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had an amazing quarter, with iPhone revenue up 59 percent over last year, strong sales of Mac, all-time record revenue from services, driven by the App Store, and a great start for Apple Watch,\u201d said Apple CEO Tim Cook. \u201cThe excitement for Apple Music has been incredible, and we\u2019re looking forward to releasing iOS 9, OS X El Capitan and watchOS 2 to customers in the fall.\u201d Apple also said that the Apple Watch launch has been \u201csuccessful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Apple are trading down roughly 6.39 percent after hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apple reports its fiscal third quarter earnings on Tuesday.
