It releases on November 4, 2016. A remaster of Modern Warfare is a pre-order bonus. But despite the countless leaks, Activision had been dead silent on the matter, aside from slinging one tweet with poop emoji.

Here’s what we know now: The game will take us to space, and will feature space dogfights and mechs in some aspect. We’re hoping we’ll get freeform control of both. Call of Duty has typically been reticent to let us control anything but a walking soldier with a gun, putting anything else, like a tank or jeep, in the hands of an NPC while we simply control a turret. The opportunity to hop into some vehicles and take control would be awesome.

Those leaks I mentioned before were followed by a bunch of official stuff from the company via their official Twitter feed, including announcement of a stream at 10:30 a.m. today. It was assumed that that would be the reveal of the trailer above, but with that out of the way we’re hoping the stream will concentrate on telling us more about the game and how it’ll be different from the other games in in the Call of Duty franchise.

The first teaser was a video from the who is presumably the commander of the Settlement Defense Front:

You cannot prevent what is coming.https://t.co/OyOM1eue2t

— Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) April 30, 2016

This is Lt. I’m also glad that, in the future, not only is Facebook still around, it’s one of our last defenses against incoming threats.

This is pure speculation, but here’s my guess on the plot. With the enemy calling themselves the “Settlement Defense Force” and the game taking us into space, we could be looking at a war pitting Earth-based humans versus offworld humans. The idea of humans settling somewhere in the future leads to thoughts of space travel.

With warfares Advanced, Modern, and early modern having all been thoroughly explored, taking to the future seems like a logical step forward for the franchise, even if it seems like a big step out. It could put fans of realistic war games even further off the series, but it could also attract a new crowd to multiplayer shooters. We’ll know more soon.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered are out November 4, 2016, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Until then: FREDERIKSEN OUT.

The next shoot’em up from Activision will be entitled Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
