This year at E3, each three of the \u201cBs\u201d is bound to turn up huge, and indeed, two of\u00a0them will emerge in direct competition with one another.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>BioWare announced its\u00a0brand\u00a0new\u00a0IP\u00a0<em>Anthem<\/em>\u00a0during EA\u2019s E3 2017 press conference this weekend. A 45-second teaser shows off a sci-fi shooter that very clearly is gunning for Bungie and Activision\u2019s\u00a0<em>Destiny<\/em>\u00a0crowd.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Anthem Official Teaser Trailer (2017)\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wi0Uq7QmKm4?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t see any gameplay, but the setup revolves around a giant wall that separates civilization from the wilderness. Those who explore beyond the safety of the wall arm themselves with powerful body armor that, no doubt, lets them survive encounters with aliens and monsters of the worst description.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t know much else, but it is confirmed that BioWare\u2019s main studio in\u00a0Edmonton is in control of this project. EA and BioWare promise to show off more at Microsoft\u2019s press conference tomorrow.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Destiny<\/em>\u00a0isn\u2019t all that\u00a0<em>Anthem<\/em>\u00a0has to overcome<\/h3>\n<p>BioWare clearly wants to contend with\u00a0<em>Destiny<\/em>\u00a0using this project, and if the studio can dig deep into its storytelling roots,\u00a0<em>Anthem<\/em>\u00a0could have a fighting chance. However, there is also an enormous\u00a0cloud\u00a0hovering over BioWare these days, another issue that it will have to confront if it wants\u00a0<em>Anthem<\/em>\u00a0to succeed.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dragon Age: Inquisition<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Mass Effect: Andromeda<\/em>\u00a0were both met with middling reviews and hardly the same universal praise that BioWare\u2019s groundbreaking titles from the previous decade received.
