Destiny<\/em> players who are gaming on a modded console are now under a heavy risk to receive a ban from Bungie. The company indirectly hinted that this was the reasoning behind some heavy ban hammer swinging, and it reminded players to follow the rules when playing its latest game.<\/p>\n

Something else that deserves mention is that the BanHammer has been a-swingin\u2019. Ninja Justice is always swift and final.\u00a0A review of the bans applied over the last week shows that all of the affected accounts had logged into\u00a0Destiny<\/i>\u00a0on a modified console at some point. Play nice! And use the boxes that your favorite retailer \u2018gave\u2019 you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Man, I didn\u2019t even think modding a console was a practice anymore. I remember I modded my original PlayStation, but that was just because I wanted to play import games back when the consoles were region-locked. Now that I can play PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games from anywhere else in the world though, why bother?<\/p>\n

Apparently though, some people are buying cheap previous generation consoles and modifying them to hack the game. To me, it sounds pretty standard for what I used to do back in the GameShark days, but you know, a nice night of gaming in the privacy of your own home and enjoying cheats affects everyone now, I suppose.<\/p>\n

It all comes down to intent. If you take a bunch of cheats into multiplayer matches and grief opponents, then shame on you.\u00a0If you want to expand the games\u2019 borders and goof around with the mechanics in privacy, more power to you.<\/p>\n
