Sony’s SmartWatch 3 has finally popped up on Google Play sporting a $249.99 price tag. The listing comes more than a month after the device got its official unveiling at IFA 2014in Berlin, but an actual release date remains a mystery at this time.
At $249.99, the SmartWatch 3 costs the same as the incredibly popular Moto 360, but some would argue that it isn’t quite equipped to compete at the same level. It’s not as pretty as Motorola’s device, and despite being designed primarily for sporty types, it doesn’t have a built-in heart rate monitor like many of its rivals.
The SmartWatch 3 does have familiar internals, however, with a 1.6-inch transflective LCD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. It also has a 420mAh battery that Sony says will provide two days of typical usage — as well as interchangeable silicone straps, and a water-resistant form factor.
Despite its Google Play appearance, the SmartWatch 3 still doesn’t have a release date yet — but it’s clear that the device is at least very close now. Sony fans will want to keep an eye on the Play Store for further information over the coming days and weeks.
