Panasonic’s CM1 Will Hit the U.S. Later This Summer

If you care about cameras, chances are the Panasonic CM1 was high atop your must-have list when it was announced in September. Unfortunately, the device wasn’t exactly accessible to folks here in the U.S., but that’s changing later this summer. Panasonic on Monday said the device will arrive as an unlocked GSM version for $1,000. Not cheap, and probably something 99-percent of consumers won’t buy. But just imagine toting this thing around on your next vacation. Phone plus camera equals some pretty incredible selfies.

Nikon Announces Fresh New Entry-level DX-format DSLR

Nikon has announced a fresh new DX-format DSLR, called the D5500, along with a couple of new Nikkor lenses. The new lightweight camera offers a ton of great features for those looking to get into the world of DSLRs, including built-in Wi-Fi, a 3.2-inch Vari-angle touchscreen LCD display, and a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor. Nikon says the camera sports a new “monocoque design,” which promises to make the entry-level camera lighter and more portable than previous offerings. Great for toting around during your backpacking trip in Europe, and it’ll be very durable.
