Dr. Dre’s new album, which is exclusively available through iTunes and Apple Music, has been streamed 25 million times in its first week, according to figures released by Apple. “Compton: A Soundtrack” has also sold half a million copies through iTunes.

The new album, which features 16 brand new tracks, is Dre’s first album in 16 years, and includes collaborations with the likes of Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, and others. Apple is using its impressive performance figures to promote Apple Music for artists.

“We’re beginning to show what we can do in terms of communicating music to a worldwide audience and helping artists at the same time,” Jimmy Iovine, who joined the Cupertino company when it acquired Beats for $3 billion last year, told The New York Times.

“Compton” had around 11 million streams in the U.S. alone, and those taking advantage of Apple Music’s free trial can enjoy the whole thing as much as they like free of charge.

Despite its half a million iTunes sales, however, “Compton” hasn’t quiet performed well enough to reach Billboard’s top album spot, with “Kill the Lights” from country star Luke Bryan expected to beat it to number one when the album chart is released on Monday.

Perhaps sales of “Compton” will be boosted even further when it goes on sale through other outlets. iTunes has exclusivity for two weeks, but after that, the album will be available from other retailers.
