Twitter announced on Monday morning that, as of September 30, co-founder Jack Dorsey is the company’s new CEO. Dorsey had been serving as the interim CEO following Dick Costolo’s decision to step down from the appointment. Reports last week suggested Dorsey would take the role, though there had apparently been some concern about his involvement with Square.

Dorsey is also the CEO of Square, and Twitter — now a public company — said it was looking for a full-time CEO. The two sides must have worked out a deal, however, as Dorsey will also continue his leadership role at Square. Twitter also named Adam Bain, former president, global revenue and partnerships, as the firm’s new chief operating officer. As expected, Dick Costolo officially resigned his post with the board of Twitter.

Dorsey will relinquish his post as chairman of the board of Twitter while he is CEO. In the SEC filing, Twitter said there are no plans to provide Dorsey with direct compensation.
