It seems like just a few months ago we were talking about PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds struggling to surpass the seeming unstoppable, untoppable Dota 2 on Steam for concurrent player count. Even though we knew it was huge, it’s still a bit wild to look at the numbers now. PUBG isn’t just passing Dota 2, it’s destroying it – the game surpassed 3 million current players on Steam just in time for 2018.

PUBG hit 1 million concurrent users back in September, and 2 million in October. The game is growing quickly and shows no signs of slowing down. Creator Brendan Greene thinks the game could hit 100 million players  before its done growing, which GameSpot notes would put it at League of Legends levels of success.

Over on the Xbox side, the game is still troubled by framerate issues, but it’s also in Microsoft’s Xbox Game Preview program. On the PC side, the game recently jumped from Early Access into full release as it hit its 1.0 release last month. The console version saw 1 million copies sold in just 2 days.

Wherever you end up playing PUBG, you’re not going to have any trouble finding  a game to hop into.
