It was a tough holiday season for both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network with both services being crippled by a DDoS attack on Christmas morning. Waves of new customers were unable to fully enjoy their consoles because someone cramped away in a small computer room had a statement to make… or something, I guess.

Either way, PlayStation is sorry about the whole affair, and it is offering a few New Years goodies to make up for it. In addition to extending the sales that were available at the time, it has also announced plans to extend everyone’s PlayStation Plus subscriptions for a full 5 days. More details will be made available when Sony has its plan firmly established.

In addition to that, every PlayStation owner will have access to a 10 percent off coupon within the month, and it will be free to use on any products that can be purchased through the PlayStation Store. Again, Sony will have more information when the discounts become available.
