Pebble recently sold its 1 millionth smartwatch, according to statements made by CEO Eric Migicovsky in a recent interview with The Verge. Migicovsky also discussed his company’s plans for 2015, and how he plans to continue to fight in an increasingly crowded wearable space.

Migicovsky told The Verge that Pebble will launch new products this year – though he didn’t specifically say when – and added that Pebble has created an entirely new software platform that will launch with its new hardware. ”We’ve found a new framework to use as an interaction model on the watch,” he explained.

Migicovsky didn’t provide details on his new platform, though The Verge said that he expects it will be unlike any other software available on wearables today, and that the focus won’t actually be on apps. That could be a huge strategy shift, especially since Pebble has put a huge focus on developers in the past.

Pebble’s hardware is really going to need to wow consumers. Android Wear will continue to mature in 2015, and the Apple Watch is due out this April.
