Android M, which Google announced today at its I/O developers conference, will include fingerprint scanner support designed to work with the new Android Pay service.

The new feature will make it easy for Android phones with fingerprint readers to support mobile payments. It’s also open to third-party developers who want to add that extra security to their mobile sites or apps. Of course, OEMs will still need to build their own biometric scanners, but this should make the software side of things a lot easier.
