This is an announcement that might have made a bit more sense on Valentine’s Day. Twitter on Tuesday announced that it’s switching its “Favorites” icon on Vine and Twitter from a star to a heart. Previously, if you liked something someone said, or maybe just wanted to save it for later, you’d “favorite” the post by tapping a star. Now you tap a heart.

Twitter said it made the change because the heart is a “universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones” and that it’s “more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people.” It said it found that users generally preferred the heart more, and that it recognized users who embraced the usage of the symbol on Periscope.

Hearts are now the default option on Twitter.com and Tweetdeck, and on official apps for Android, iOS and Windows 10. They’ll be implemented in Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac “soon.”
