If you open up Gmail on your PC today and have a short video waiting for you in your inbox, you should notice that it’ll go ahead and play directly in your browser, eliminating the need to download it to your hard drive and open it with a media player.

There is a catch, though. The feature, which started rolling out to users on Thursday, is only available for video attachments weighing in below 50MB. If a user wants to preview a file that’s larger, they’ll need to upload it to Google Drive.

In a post on the official G Suite blog, Google revealed that the functionality uses the same infrastructure that “powers YouTube, Google Drive, and other video streaming apps, so video is delivered at optimal quality and availability.”

Don’t panic if the feature isn’t showing up

Back in February 2016, it was reported that there are more than one billion monthly Gmail users — so don’t panic if the feature isn’t showing up right away, as Google notes that it can take up to 15 days to reach all eligible accounts.
