NVIDIA has been moving quickly to get the latest Android software out to its NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet. That started with the early roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop, followed by an upgrade that brought the company’s own software up to a par with Material Design, and now it’s rolling out Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

The update delivers performance and bug fixes, some to app responsiveness and the UI, and OpenGL4.5 support, but also includes a few other consumer-facing enhancements. NVIDIA said that its community asked for the return of the SHIELD Power Control Menu, which is included in this update. Additionally, the “Camera Awesome” application uses the Tegra K1 processor for live-previews of effects applied to videos and photos. Finally, the update includes “enhanced support and optimizations for memory intensive app,” so that everything continues to run smoothly.

The NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet is one of the best Android tablets on the market right now, and it’s a top choice for gamers. Better yet, the company is selling it bundled with a controller and several awesome games for the holidays.
