I missed out on the first Assassin’s Creed Chronicles game, but part of me still wonders what the main series would be like if it morphed into a 2D experience. Ubisoft has those who are curious covered with a brand new trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India.

Anybody play the indie hit Mark of the Ninja? Yeah, that was a pretty sweet game. Ubisoft borrows quite a few 2D stealth mechanics from Klei Entertainment’s ninja game, but it adds a few unique ones as well that only the Assassins can perform.

Our Assassin this time has a hidden trident up his sleeve replacing a typical knife, and there has to be a swan dive into a haystack, or else it’s simply not Assassin’s Creed.

Not bad, actually. I remember the first Assassin’s Creed Chronicles game in China wasn’t well received, but I can’t remember why. This looks like a solid little game I could get into. I’ll check it out somewhere down the road.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India launches on Jan. 12 for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox One, and PC.
