Smartphones have become so ubiquitous some people might not even know what a landline is. And, yet, Google on Tuesday introduced Fiber Phone, a new home telephone service under its Google Fiber umbrella.

For $10 a month, Fiber Phone will provide customers with unlimited local and nationwide calling, along with the same rates as Google Voice for international calls. The service comes with all the features you’d expect from a landline, including call waiting, caller ID and 911 services. You can either keep your current number or pick a new one, according to Google’s announcement.

The advantage of using Fiber Phone is being able to use your number wherever you are, whether it be at home or on a trip. Your number lives in the cloud, a la Google Voice, which means you can use it with your phone, tablet or laptop.

Google said it’ll introduce Fiber Phone to select areas soon, with plans to roll the service out to all Fiber cities in the future.
