If the appearance of the design diagram that popped up on Microsoft’s site a few days ago wasn’t enough, maybe this will be.

An Austrian retailer, Libro, has leaked the first images of the new Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm audio jack. Guess what: it’s pretty similar, otherwise. Microsoft spent a bunch of time and money researching and developing the device, so it’s not likely they’re going to make any sweeping changes. The addition of a 3.5mm stereo jack makes sense – the more open the platform, the better – but doesn’t disrupt the controller’s design.

The first edition of the controller, according to the now-pulled page, is due June 8, a week before E3 with the above “Covert Forces” design. I imagine the controller will start appearing in bundles shortly afterward. My Xbox One controllers have held up better than my PlayStation 4 controller so far, but this might be an appealing excuse to pick up a new one so that I can relegate my other one to PC gaming.

Is this new controller reason enough for you to upgrade?
