Similar to Sprint’s recent announcement, T-Mobile on Wednesday revealed a fresh “carrier freedom” plan aimed at getting people to switch. If you have any outstanding device fees, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said the carrier will pay up to $650 per phone for 10 lines if you switch to its network. That essentially wipes out the price of paying for a phone outright.

As part of the new plan, Legere also shouted a new “Uncontract” buzzword, which he said will ensure when a contract is signed the rate won’t ever go up—though the price could go down. “I’m guaranteeing those rates for as long as you’re a customer,” Legere said.

“The other guys have been throwing out all kinds of desperate, short-term promotions to suck you in and lock you down—only to jack up rates later,” Legere said. “We’re not playing that game.”

Legere said that any promotional plans that T-Mobile has offered will now be permanent, including the 2.5GB plan that would have lowered data back down to 1GB.

Legere also touched on the world of unlimited; he said he can’t tell us what the market would be like ten years from now, though he did commit to supporting unlimited plans for two years. That means unlimited plans won’t be removed, and prices won’t be changed. Good for people who are already locked in.
